Preparing for your child’s birthday party.
Hi parents! Being a mother myself, I understand how stressful planning your child’s birthday party can be.
Here are some tips I found may help you achieve a stress-free, successful birthday party for your child:
1. Plan Ahead. The sooner you reserve your time, the better your chances are of getting you exactly what you want.
2. Be Flexible . When planning your event, please allow a 15 minute leeway for the arrival of your entertainment. Our company strives to always be prompt, however occasionally there are circumstances beyond anyone’s control. If you schedule your itinerary too tightly, this could cause undo stress to you, your guests and your entertainers.
3. Restrain Pets. Keep all animals out of sight. A friendly puppy can disrupt and upstage even the very best entertainers.
4. Turn off Sprinklers. If you're planning to have a backyard lawn party, remember to turn off water sprinklers the night before. Wet grass can make for a very soggy party.
5. Rained Out. Always have a backup plan in case of bad weather. Canceling at the last minute is always stressful. It is often difficult to reschedule your guests (or your entertainment) and you may incur unnecessary last minute cancelation fees. Not to mention, your child will be so disappointed.
6. Proper Space. Provide the appropriate space needed to entertain your guests. Every event requires a different space, if your not sure, we'll be happy to advise you. Most entertainment can adjust to any space but their show might not be as good. The right space will help make your party a success.
7. Join the Fun. Children's parties aren't just for the children. The kids love it when grown-ups get in on the action. The best gift you can give your child is to participate. Besides, it's a great opportunity to let your hair down and be a kid again. But if your hosting duties don't allow you to join the fun, and that’s often the case, make sure someone is video taping so you can enjoy the special moments together with your child later.
8. Multiple Entertainment. If you want your guests to enjoy multiple performances, don’t schedule them too tightly. I have learned the hard way that a party needs to breath. It’s okay to have moment when nothing is happening.
9. Talk to Your Entertainment Providers. Communicate your party goals & desires both before & during your event. Go ahead, paint a picture of what you want and share it. Most party providers are glad to accommodate special requests whenever possible. I have found that most disappointed it is usually due to a lack of communication.
10. Have Realistic Expectations. Especially when hiring children’s entertainers. Sometime people forget their characters are human. It’s so easy to just see them as the cartoons they are portraying but remember, a mermaid character can't really swim in a pool and someone wearing a full headed fur mascot costume can’t play with children in 100 degree heat. It is important that you have realistic expectations so you and your child can have an amazing lasting memory.
So now, all that’s left to do is relax and have a great party!
